Support in the South-West

An exclusive private reception where guests were treated to behind the scenes stories from former Scotland and Arsenal goalkeeper, Bob Wilson, took place at Jika Jika in Bath.

An Audience With Bob Wilson saw influential guests from the South-West join Bob for the evening, in support of the Willow Foundation.

The Willow Foundation is a national charity set up by Bob Wilson and his wife, Megs, in memory of their daughter that provides special days for seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds throughout the UK.

The charity is well supported in the South-West with hundreds of thousands of pounds having been raised through a host of fundraising events.  In particular, the prestigious Bath Polo Day held at Beaufort Polo Club, with the third annual event on Saturday June 5, 2010.

The Willow Foundation has strong links to Bath with former Bath Rugby player, Matt Perry, an ambassador for the charity, and supporters including Lee Mears and Matt Stevens, whose venue, Jika Jika, is hosting this event.      At the event Bob was joined by the organiser of the Bath Polo Day, Sue Jackson, along with the charity's Bath Rugby supporters.  The evening included a question and answer session with Bob Wilson, with extracts from his book, Life in the Beautiful Game.  Lee Mears presented Bob with £3,000 on the night (pictured), money that he raised for the Willow Foundation during his testimonial year 2008-09 through a host of events.

Committed supporter of the charity and Bath resident, Sue Jackson, has raised more than £150,000 for the Willow Foundation through various fundraising events including the two previous Polo Days, and even climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

“The Willow Foundation is lucky enough to have a great deal of generosity in the South West already.  We'd like to spread the word even further and get more people and businesses in the area involved in the fantastic events we have coming up, in particular the fabulous polo day in June," said Bob Wilson.
