Teapot donated by The Goring Hotel
The Goring was founded in 1910 by O.R Goring the great grandfather of the current owner. This hotel was the first in the world to have private bathrooms and central heating in each room. Historical events at this hotel include, Lady Randolph Churchill stayed at this hotel in 1919, and was visited regularly by her son Mr Winston Churchill, the christening cake for Prince Charles was provided by The Goring Chefs, in 1953 the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, vast members of foreign royal family used this hotel as an extension to Buckingham Palace and in 1960 Jean Shrimpton causes a scene by appearing at The Goring in one of the first mini-skirts. This hotel has won many awards, including Top London Hotel 2005, 2006, and 2007, and Top 50 Hotels in 2006.
