FAQs – Coronavirus and Special Days - September 2020

COVID-19 Update - September 2020

Please be aware that we are not accepting new applications for Special Days at this time.

We are currently arranging Special Days for a group of over 700 beneficiaries who unfortunately had their Special Day postponed during the peak of COVID-19 earlier in the year.

We are doing all we can to be in a position to re-open applications as soon as possible, this is currently not planned until 2021 at the earliest. However, if this date can be brought forward, we will share an update on this page.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Please note that we will not store or process any applications received after 16 March 2020, until the decision is made to accept new applications again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I check the status of my Special Day application?

Everyone with a current approved Special Day should have been contacted to update them with the current status of their application. We are currently offering Positivity Packs and Special Days at home to beneficiaries whose Special Day was postponed when our service was suspended in March 2020.

When will you be providing days out and short breaks again for your current group of beneficiaries?

To avoid risk for all our beneficiaries during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are closely monitoring the situation and following government guidance. We are currently discussing how we could do days out and short breaks again now that some of the lockdown restrictions have been lifted. This may not be possible until late 2020 at the earliest and we may have to limit options based on risk levels. The safety of our beneficiaries is our primary concern and we will update the website and also contact you directly if any changes to our current service are agreed.

My application is due to expire soon. Does this mean that my application will get extended?

Yes – We will be extending all approved applications that are due to expire automatically. We are now able to offer Special Days at home for those with previously approved applications and now that lockdown restrictions are starting to be lifted, we may be able to open up Special Day options further. With this in mind, we have extended approved applications with a new expiry date of 31 December 2021, when the Special Day must be taken by.

Since applying for my Special Day, I now do not fall within the 16-40 age bracket, will this impact my application?

No - All Special Day applications that have been approved by our medical team prior to March 2020 will be honoured.

I have seen people receiving Positivity Packs, how can I apply for one?

We have secured a great partnership with ‘Not Another Bunch Of Flowers’ to be able to offer Positivity Packs to everyone who had a Special Day postponed due to COVID-19. We currently have over 700 beneficiaries awaiting their Special Day. Our Special Days team are working to ensure that packs will be received by all approved applicants.
