A different way to give

March 29, 2016

At Willow there are many different ways people choose to support us. But did you know vintage Star Wars badges or deciding to have a closet clear out has also helped people become part of the Willow family? Let me tell you how…

As part of the Corporate Fundraising team, I’m privileged to work with fantastic companies and initiatives. PayPal Giving Fund and eBay are just two of these.

PayPal Giving Fund has supported Willow since 2008 and since then has helped us raise a phenomenal £470,000 for Special Days. As well as raising much needed funds, it has also enabled Willow to reach thousands of eBay customers and sellers helping us to raise awareness so we can reach out to more seriously ill young adults who could benefit from a Special Day.

This week, Willow is the featured Give at Checkout charity (from March 28 – April 3) so there’s never been a better time to support Willow by shopping or selling your unwanted items and choosing to donate on eBay.

Last year, 9,735 people donated to Willow during Give at Checkout slots and helped to raise an incredible £22,000. We want to say thank you to each and every one of you! One customer told us:

“I have only just found out about this marvellous charity. Initially I was checking out eBay for Star Wars badges – then a request for a £2 donation for Willow appeared and absolutely melted my heart. I have got to find a way to raise awareness of this charity and help these amazing young people.”

What about after this week? Community selling also allows you to support Willow all year round. You can simply list your items to sell on eBay and choose to donate a percentage of the sale to Willow. Or why not visit our eBay shop?

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at PayPal Giving Fund and eBay for Charity and, most importantly, everyone shopping and selling on eBay – you’re helping us provide unforgettable Special Days, when they’re needed most.

Millie from PayPal Giving Fund is passionate about helping charities across the UK and says: “We are committed to supporting Willow through the eBay for Charity programme and we hope to raise even more funds for Special Days this year.”
