COVID-19 Update - June 2020
At Willow, we continue to be very mindful of the current situation regarding COVID-19 and, as with most organisations, we are assessing the situation as it develops whilst doing our best to provide support. The safety and welfare of our beneficiaries is paramount.
We are continuing to work with trustees, suppliers and medical professionals on how and when we will be able to start to rebook your Special Day. Our Special Days service remains suspended for now, but we are reviewing this in August 2020 and will inform you of the decision made shortly after that.
We will continue to keep you up to date with developments and progress via emails and regular updates via our website.
We understand that this is an extremely difficult time and we want to ensure that your Special Day is as memorable as possible without any additional worry regarding the virus.
Please be aware we are no longer accepting any new applications from March 2020 as we are currently not making any new bookings and would like to prioritise those we have already approved to honour Special Days that have had to be postponed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I check the status of my Special Day Application?
Everyone with a current approved Special Day has been sent a letter to update them with the current status of their Special Day. We are currently working closely with beneficiaries and suppliers for those Special Days that are due to take place within the next few weeks. Please keep an eye on your emails, including your junk email, for further updates from our Special Days team.
If your Special Day is further ahead, please be aware that we will contact you nearer the time and are prioritising the dates coming up now.
What does “postponing” my Special Day mean and how will it impact me?
To avoid risk for all our beneficiaries during the Coronavirus pandemic, we are monitoring the situation and are then cancelling bookings if the risk level is still high. Don’t worry, we will rebook your Special Day when it is deemed safe to do so again but for now you will go on a list of those to get back in touch with when we reopen our service. We will take care of all of your booking amendments, so you do not need to worry about this. The Special Days team will give you further information when they get in touch.
My application is due to expire soon. Does this mean that my application will get extended?
Yes – We will be extending all approved applications that are due to expire soon automatically. We will closely monitor the situation and extend all applications as appropriate. We will honour all Special Days that had already been approved but, at this time, we don’t have a specific date as the Coronavirus situation is still unfolding. We will be in touch when we are planning to reopen our service.
Since applying for my Special Day, I now do not fall within the 16-40 age bracket, will this impact my application?
No - all Special Day applications that have been approved by our medical team prior to March 2020 will be honoured.
I have applied for a Special Day but it has not been booked yet, will I still get my Special Day?
Yes – if you have applied for a Special Day and you have received an acknowledgement from us that your Special Day has been approved. It means that we will just need a little longer to contact you to start planning your Special Day. If you know who your Day Maker is then you can contact them via email and they will be happy to update you.
I have seen people receiving Positivity Packs, how can I apply for one?
We have secured a great partnership with Not Another Bunch Of Flowers to be able to offer Positivity Packs to everyone who had a Special Day booked and which was cancelled and postponed due to COVID-19. We have over 600 applicants awaiting their Special Day. Our Special Day makers, Vicky and Josie, are working to ensure that packs will be received by all approved applicants. If you have not heard from them yet, please keep an eye out for emails over the coming weeks.
When will I be able to apply for a Special Day with Willow Foundation?
Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the decision has been made to suspend new Special Day applications for the time being. We will update our website and notify our medical contacts when we are in a position to accept new applications again.
Please note that we will not store or process any applications received after 16 March 2020, until the decision is made to accept new applications again.
