Salary: £27,000 to £29,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, open to part time ca 30 hours per week.

Willow are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trust Fundraising Officer to join the Charitable Giving Team, a small team that raises funds through trusts, foundations, philanthropists and companies.
This is an exciting opportunity for a team player who has gained experience working in the charity sector and who is now looking to specialise in trust and foundations fundraising. Other relevant experience for this role includes having worked with external stakeholders and the ability to write emotive and convincing copy.
Job purpose
The recruitment of a Trust Fundraising Officer is the result of income growth through our work with trust and foundations and the need for succession planning in the team. This newly created role will actively support and help maximise the fundraising potential from trusts and foundations which will enable Willow to deliver its Special Day services for seriously ill young adults.
You will manage your own allocation of trust accounts and will support our efforts to research and identify new prospects for our pipeline. You will apply for funding to trusts and foundations through a written application process and we expect you to be experienced in your ability to write copy. With support from your manager, you will manage our small trust mailing cycle. You will ensure that effective and timely stewardship of relationships is recorded on our database and build lasting relationships with funders.
Key responsibilities and duties
- To support the implementation of Willow’s trust and foundations plan through clear, tailored and timely stewardship of current relationships as well as developing new relationships.
- To work with an allocated portfolio of existing trusts and foundation relationships, monitoring progress and implementing a rolling programme of trust applications and reporting
- To identify and research new prospective funders with the aim to apply for funding, achieve new income and foster new fundraising relationships.
- To record your activities on Raiser’s Edge our contact strategy database resulting in clear steps of various stages in the relationship management of your accounts.
- Supported by your manager, to manage, grow and innovate the rolling programme of small trust mailings (currently issued twice yearly) with the aim to achieve year-on-year income growth.
- To carry your own fundraising target that will be delivered through agreed KPI’s (both financial and non-financial), supported by your manager.
- To articulate clearly and persuasively Willow’s messaging and service impact to [prospective] funders, referrers and influencers.
- To ensure good practice in the use of Raiser’s Edge for contact strategies, ensure communications and financial records are established and contact maintained.
- To support the day to day management of the database and ensure data management complies with data protection and other fundraising governance and legal requirements.
- To keep up to date on developments and trends in fundraising and voluntary sectors.
Person Specification
Essential experience
- Experience of working in a fundraising environment or charity sector
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to make Willow’s work stand out
- Empathy with Willow’s cause and key values
- Experience in using a CRM database
Desirable experience
- Demonstratable experience raising income from trusts and foundations / through written applications.
- Thorough understanding of the trust stewardship process and cultivation cycle
- Experience in prospect research
- Experience in using Raiser’s Edge or other databases used in charity sector
- Knowledge of the UK funding environment and good practice
Skills and Ability
- Strong verbal communications skills
- Systematic in planning and executing activities
- Analytical and high attention to detail
- Experienced in working with numbers/budgets
- Proficient working in word and excel
- Ability to prioritise and work on own initiative against tight deadlines
Salary: £27,000 to £29,000 per annum
