It’s now been a few months since I joined the Community Fundraising team at Willow. The time has flown by and it has been brilliant so far. Everyone has been friendly and welcoming (I can really see what they mean by the Willow family) and it is amazing to know I’m working for such an incredible cause.
This week is Volunteers’ Week and it gives me an extra chance to say ‘thank you’ as well as the chance to introduce myself. If you have a new fundraising idea, are keen to find out about how you can help in your community, would like to volunteer in your local area or you’d just like to say hello – please do email me, I’d love to hear from you.
The best part of my new role is speaking to our amazing supporters, like you, and hearing about all the great work they are doing for Willow. Other highlights* include being the only male in the fundraising team and therefore being drafted in to carry the heaviest items to our events as well as reach the top shelves of the storage cupboards…
I also work closely with our group of Willow Champions: super supporters whose passion for the cause means they go above and beyond to spread the word about Willow wherever they are in the UK. We have a Champions Facebook group which is buzzing with ideas and inspiration – the creativity never fails to impress and I can’t wait to discover how far their plans can actually go!
I am really looking forward to getting to know more of you this year, finding more would-be Willow Champions and hearing your stories about why you’re so committed to Willow.
On Friday we delivered our 12,500th Special Day and it is truly inspirational to be part of the team making it happen. On behalf of everyone who has experienced a Special Day because of you, thank you for being part of Team Willow.
*Disclaimer: I’m not complaining, the team are really grateful!
