"Willow gave me the confidence to believe I could be a runner. "

Jackie, Team Willow

Sporting challenges are a really popular way to raise money but they don't have to be as tough as they sound. There are a host of walks, runs and bike rides, as well as the tougher challenges like marathons, triathlons, swims and skydives for the adrenaline seekers out there.

Prudential Ride London - Surrey 100: 29 July 2018

Lead out the greats when you take on a 100 mile cycling challenge like no other through the closed roads of London and the Surrey Hills this summer.

Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London Olympic and Paralympic Games, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside. With leg-testing climbs and a route made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics, it's a truly spectacular event for all involved.

We'll also be on the sidelines with an army of cheerleaders cheering like loons as you whizz past in purple.

Please email Carol to find out more details about applying.

Willow 10K: Sunday 7th October 2018

Willow's annual 10K is a great race for beginners and experienced runners alike and now includes 5K and Junior 1K routes.

Our 10th anniversary 10K, on Sunday 7th October 2018, will be started by our very own Life President Bob Wilson, who will send runners off on a route that goes through the picturesque grounds of Hatfield House, providing a unique opportunity to explore hidden parts of the estate not normally open to the public.

By signing up you are pledging to try and fundraise £50, or whatever you can, to make even more Special Days possible.

Runners aged 17 and under will need to provide a signed parental consent form. For more information, check out our Frequently Asked Questions.

There will be a great run-specific warm-up from our professional trainer Martyn Oakley, music along the course, fab food stalls and a physio on hand to ease any aches and pains before or after your run. Plus a free kid's 100 metre dash for all budding young athletes. Family and friends are welcome to join the cheering teams and everyone will have access to Hatfield House's Stable Yard, with its lovely shops and superb cafe.

The Willow 10K is a great day for all the family

Skydiving: all year round

If you're the daring type, perhaps a skydive could be the perfect way to combine an incredible experience with raising valuable funds for Special Days?

Imagine yourself exiting from the door of an aircraft from over two & a half miles up and freefalling at a speed of 120mph through the clouds, before gliding back down to your envious supporters on the ground below! That's exactly how Ed felt when he took part in a skydive to raise funds for Willow.

Walks

In 2018 we want you to get your walking shoes on to ensure every step makes a difference for Willow.

Choose to walk where you want, when you want , who you want to walk – it’s entirely up to you.  But step out for Willow and make your every step count.  Ask your friends, family, colleagues to sponsor.  Whether you’re planning on taking on a 5 mile walk or a 100 mile trek there’s plenty of inspiration below:

We are delighted to announce we are once more charity partner of the Ultra Challenge Series – a range of fantastic treks taking place across the UK.

Most of the 2,000 challengers who take part in each of these great events will cover the route at a pace that suits them, most will walk, some will jog parts, and a few will run the whole course. All will have special reasons for taking it on - all will experience a test of determination and stamina. It's tough, but achievable, and highly rewarding, and you’ll get full support every step of the way - from kit advice, optional training walks, to great hospitality on the day.  Most challenges have three distance options (full, half and quarter) with registration fees and fundraising targets to match.

Please click here to find out the different options available.
