Coronavirus and Willow Special Days

The current situation with coronavirus (COVID-19) is deeply unsettling. As ever, our priority is our beneficiaries. We are following and responding to all the guidance provided by the UK government, Public Health England and the NHS.

Willow exists to fulfil Special Days for seriously ill young adults. Current government guidance has identified that many of these people may be at risk of being severely affected by coronavirus, particularly if they have received or are currently receiving treatment for cancer, or have compromised immune systems. The guidance recommends that people in these groups avoid crowded environments and limit their social interaction.

In the light of this guidance, Willow has made the very difficult decision to put a hold on our delivery of Special Days. From today, Monday 16 March, we will no longer be accepting applications for Special Days. Over the coming days and weeks we will be contacting people who had arranged or were in the process of arranging Special Days to discuss postponing until safe to proceed.

  • If you had booked or were about to book a Special Day and have concerns about how this will affect you, please read our FAQ page. If you have further questions, please send us an email.
  • If you are a Willow supporter or volunteer we will be in touch this week to announce revised plans for forthcoming Willow events and activities. If you would like to talk to a member of our fundraising team please send us an email.

We are closely monitoring the situation and are reviewing all our forthcoming events and fundraising activities in line with the government’s advice, as it emerges.
