There has been a long radio silence over the Three Peaks Challenge. Sorry – but let me explain why!
The challenge was originally planned for May. However, there was a glitch in the arrangements which means we’ve now rescheduled for October.
In fact it is just 100 days away.
The delay has been helpful for me as I’ve had a slow recovery from a slipped disc whilst in Japan in February! And I promise, I had only done some gentle walking then – but somehow it was enough to reactivate an old injury. I also now have some interesting stories about the brilliant health care in Japan, but also the extremely small size of their wheelchairs.
With that now behind me I am back in the gym and using the long summer evenings to get training outdoors underway too.
In my day-job here at Willow I am constantly inspired by Special Day stories. Every day is unique and Willow has a great impact on the lives of seriously ill young adults and those around them.
But the weekends can be inspirational too.
Over the last couple of months I have cheered on runners, cyclists and Willow Warriors taking on some extraordinary challenges to raise funds for Special Days.
I feel privileged to be joining the ranks of so many who give up their time and energy to make more Special Days happen.
And there’s still time to join the Three Peaks Challenge too. Check out the details here.
