Our Charity Shops

Could you give your time and volunteer at our shops in Welwyn Garden City, Barnet, Hatfield, Stevenage or Hemel Hempstead?

From sorting donations, to serving customers, if you could spare a few hours we'd love to have you on the team.

Current Office Volunteer Opportunities

Office Volunteer Opportunities:

Grant making trust researcher

We are looking for on-going volunteer support to help raise funds from trusts and foundations. Willow offers a supportive office environment where you work as an integrated part of the fundraising team

Working with our Philanthropy Team you will be using the internet to research prospective trusts and foundations who may offer funding opportunities for Willow. 

Using our criteria and assessment system you will then research and assess each opportunity.

You would add this information onto our database, Raisers Edge. 

Accuracy, ability to work on your own initiative and attention to detail are key skills required for this interesting and rewarding role.

This role will offer true hands on trust and foundations fundraising experience.

Case Study Communications Volunteer

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who has an eye for detail and good communication skills to support the Marketing and Communications Team in producing quality case study reports to enable Willow to report and promote the impact of Special Days. 

The role involves reading and transcribing surveys sent in by people following their Special Day, and working with the team to identify stories that would be suitable for use as case studies. You would also be in communication with people to gain permission for Willow to use their stories and photos in our communications.

In addition you would be responsible for ensuring that records are kept up to date on our charity database, as well as offering support to the team during busy periods of the year. 

Applicants should be confident in their writing and computer skills, and have strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail.

The volunteer will receive training from the Communications team and Raisers Edge database training will also be provided.

Skills required: 
- Strong writing skills
- Confident in communicating with the team and beneficiaries
- Attention to detail
- Experience in working with Microsoft Office
- Database experience would be helpful

Commitment:
- This volunteer position requires a commitment of one day a week (can be split over two half days)

Willow events: On the Day

We need cheerleaders, traffic marshals, race course marshals, raffle ticket sellers, bucket collectors and more! There are lots of ways to be involved at Willow events, including... 

  • Sunday 22nd April 2018: London Marathon - Cheering teams in two locations along the route / helping at the finish line and recovery centre
  • Saturday 26th-27th May 2018: LeeStock (Sudbury, Suffolk) - Event support
  • Sunday 15th July 2018: Folk by the Oak (Hatfield House) - Manning the Willow stall / helping with a bucket collection / selling raffle tickets
  • Sunday 6 October 2018: Willow 10K (Hatfield House) - We need marshalls on the 10K course, people to man the water stations and to help at the finish line

Volunteering in your area

Volunteering from home: Spread the word: Tell people in your community about Willow, share our messages on social media, or even arrange your own talk to local groups!

Become a Willow Champion: We need more charity champions across the UK and you could help! You'll deliver talks to local schools, groups and businesses in your community and spread the Willow word. You'll be helping us promote Willow in local press, raise awareness and fundraise for more Special Days. 

Collection tin coordinator: We are in desperate need of collection tin coordinators to help us raise funds and awareness for Willow across the UK. You will be responsible for distribute collection tins in and around your local area, monitoring them, counting and banking funds raised and keeping in touch with fundraising team with regular updates. 

Become a Media Volunteer

Would you like to help raise awareness of Willow by sharing your Special Day story in the media?

By sharing your story about the positive impact your Special Day has had on you and your loved ones, you will help us to reach others in a similar situation, so that they too can have a Special Day.

We have lots of exciting events throughout the year, including The London Football Awards and the Willow Senior Golf Classic. We always need volunteers to help with set-up during the day as well making sure the evening runs smoothly, too.
