We rely on our army of volunteers to make sure our events run smoothly, motivate our challengers, and help Willow be the best it can be. We really couldn't do it without you!

Our Charity Shops

Could you give your time and volunteer at our shops in Welwyn Garden City, Barnet, Hatfield, Stevenage or Hemel Hempstead?

From sorting donations, to serving customers, if you could spare a few hours we'd love to have you on the team.

We're also always in need of stock donations so please do encourage friends, family and colleagues to have a clear out. We have van collection available if you're not able to visit us in store or you simply have too much to bring yourself!

Friday 24th August 2018 - Sunday 26th August 2018: GoatFest (Codicote)

Charity season is definitely upon us and we are thrilled to be the benefitting charity for this year's GoatFest in Codicote, which is growing bigger and better every year. We are going to be looking for some fantastic volunteers to give us a hand helping out over the three days. Duties will mainly include scanning wristbands at the entrance, collecting entry fees and speaking to people about Willow. Wednesday 22nd August 2018 - Sunday 26th August 2018: Willow Senior Golf Classic (Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel and Country Club)

The Willow Senior Golf Classic will be returning for another year at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel and Country Club and we are looking for some volunteers to help us throughout the event. The duties on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will include selling raffle tickets to spectators, speaking to people about Willow, manning the Willow tent and helping with fundraising activities. Throughout Wednesday and Thursday, we will be needing support with the running of the day from registration, setting up the room for the evening meal and auction as well as any other duties that may need covering. Please note, there may be some quiet times during the day but please email us on volunteer@willowfoundation.org.uk if you are interested.

Wednesday 26th September 2018: Multiplex Golf Day (The London Club, Kent)

Every year Multiplex, one of our main corporate partners organise a charity golf day, with the proceeds split between us and a second charity, Chickenshed. We are looking for 2-3 volunteers to support us with duties such as manning the games stand and general duties supporting the running of the day.

Ongoing promotional support for the Willow 10K - in your local area 

​​Many of you will know that our Willow 10K is fast approaching and we are very excited as it’s the race's 10th anniversary. We want to make this year bigger and better than before so we are looking for our amazing supporters to help us promote this and spread the word. If you would be happy to distribute our 10K posters and postcards in your local area, please let us know and we can send a pack out to you. This can be in your own time, whenever is best for you and hopefully we can get as many people signed up as possible.

Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October 2018: Willow 10K (Hatfield House)

​​This year is the 10 year anniversary of the Willow 10k and we are looking to make it bigger and better than ever! We need help on Saturday October 6th to help lay out the course and set the event up and then on Sunday October 7th we need volunteers to marshal the route and help run the event village. If you would like to help us celebrate our flagship challenge event, please let us know!

Volunteering in your area

Volunteering from home: Spread the word: Tell people in your community about Willow, share our messages on social media, or even arrange your own talk to local groups!

Become a Willow Champion: We need more charity champions across the UK and you could help! You'll deliver talks to local schools, groups and businesses in your community and spread the Willow word. You'll be helping us promote Willow in local press, raise awareness and fundraise for more Special Days. 

Collection tin coordinator: We are in desperate need of collection tin coordinators to help us raise funds and awareness for Willow across the UK. You will be responsible for distribute collection tins in and around your local area, monitoring them, counting and banking funds raised and keeping in touch with fundraising team with regular updates. 

Charitable Giving Volunteer:

We are looking for a volunteer to join our busy Charitable Giving team, ideally being able to offer longer term volunteer support committing a minimum of 1 day per week (days of the week and hours can be flexible).

This is a great opportunity to support and work alongside key areas of our Charitable Giving team.  Firstly, this role will support our Major Partnerships Manager who works with our Corporate partners.  This element of the role will predominantly involve research - identifying opportunities for involvement in industry award ceremonies, exhibitions and trade shows.

The second element of the role will involve supporting and working with our Trusts and Foundations team to ensure delivery of our Small Trust Mailing early in 2019.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who has an eye for detail and excellent communication skills.
The volunteer will receive training from the team and Raisers Edge database training will also be provided. 

Skills required:

• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Well organised and able to work under pressure, on occasions, to tight deadlines.
• Have good IT skills.
• Have previous experience of working in a busy office environment; and
• Have the ability to work as part of a team whilst being proactive and using your initiative.
• Understand the needs of confidentiality

Finance Volunteer:

We are looking for a volunteer to join our small, busy Finance team, ideally being able to offer longer term volunteer support committing to a minimum of 1 day per week (Mondays, Tuesdays or Fridays, hours can be flexible).

This is a great opportunity to gain experience or use experience already gained!  You will be working mainly on our purchase ledger and sales ledger.
Training on our finance system, Aqilla, is provided by other team members in the office.

Tasks – examples include posting purchase invoices and staff expense claims, supplier statement reconciliations, filing, assisting with our gift aid claims, creating sales invoices, shredding.

What we are looking for

Become a Media Volunteer

Would you like to help raise awareness of Willow by sharing your Special Day story in the media?

By sharing your story about the positive impact your Special Day has had on you and your loved ones, you will help us to reach others in a similar situation, so that they too can have a Special Day.

We have lots of exciting events throughout the year, including The London Football Awards and the Willow Senior Golf Classic. We always need volunteers to help with set-up during the day as well making sure the evening runs smoothly, too.
