Mehjabin’s comedy night

Mehjabin was referred to Willow by Kati, her Clinical Nurse Specialist. Mehjabin has a diagnosis of recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa where the skin layers bind together. Willow made her dream come true by organising for her to have a Special Day at the John Bishop show, meeting her favourite comedian which was the highlight of her life.

Mehjabin’s story

“Due to my condition it is difficult to go outside therefore most of my days I spend at home. My condition affects me externally as well as internally and as I grow older doing simple things, such as walking around the house, have become difficult. I get blisters all over the body which then turn into open wounds which have to be bandaged daily.”

“I felt so special having one of my dreams come true which I never thought possible.”

“On the Special Day we were treated with such love and kindness which was beyond my imagination. I have never been to Nottingham before. We had something to eat and then we headed to the arena. 

“Once we arrived we met John Bishop, we spoke a little while and as I was explaining my condition, he asked where our seats are. We showed him the tickets and it showed we weren’t sat together. Because of my condition, I have to be careful of crowds.

“They treated us with such politeness and generosity by offering food and drink through the show. The CEO of the arena, Martin, came down and very kindly allowed me and my friend to share his box with his wife, Helen.

“It’s was a special moment not only to have met my favourite comedian but to share that moment with my best friend.”

“My Special Day was a beautiful day, it was the best time I have ever had. I felt so special having one of my dreams come true which I never thought possible. I can’t thank Willow enough for all their kindness in organising a meet and greet. It was a special moment not only to have met my favourite comedian but to share that moment with my best friend.

“As it is difficult for me to go outside due to my condition, I don’t see my best friend much or have any outings with him, therefore to be able to make memories and share this special moment with him was amazing.”
