Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital cycles 200 miles for Willow

Staff at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital cycled 200 miles on a static bike on 29 July to raise funds and awareness for Willow.

The challenge was inspired by Sharelle, who works at the hospital and previously joined her sister’s Willow Special Day as a companion.

Staff from across the hospital took part and the challenge was held in an area of the hospital that helped foster conversations with staff members and the public about Willow and the support we provide.

Sharelle said:

“We wanted to do a challenge that was visible to staff members and the public to start conversations about Willow. We had members of our clinical and non-clinical teams, as well as consultants, doing the cycle challenge, with the whole of Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital supporting us.

“I chose this charity because my sister had breast cancer at the age of 34, and the charity was understanding, patient and very kind to her when going through chemotherapy and her treatments.

“Willow organised a wonderful day for my sister when she felt well enough. She had a wonderful day that made her forget she was poorly and just had a lovely normal day with a lovely memory in a difficult time.”

A huge thank you to Sharelle and everyone at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital for their incredible dedication and support.
