Ten families came together for the annual Juvenile Huntington’s Disease (JHD) family weekend at the Calvert Trust in the Lake District from Friday 29 May to Monday 1 June 2026.
We were delighted to support the weekend in partnership with the Huntington’s Disease Association and the Calvert Trust. Building on an existing relationship with the Huntington’s Disease Association, Willow added some extra special experiences for the families taking part, helping make the weekend even more memorable.
Young people living with Juvenile Huntington’s Disease and their siblings enjoyed a range of activities including rock climbing, horse riding and canoeing, while parents had the opportunity to take part in high ropes and zip-wire activities. While the young people were off exploring, parents were also able to connect with others who understand the challenges of Juvenile Huntington’s Disease and attend a session exploring social cognition and its impact on relationships and family life.
The weekend also included archery, campfire marshmallows, orienteering and crafting, before families came together for an “Out of Africa” themed evening featuring a drumming workshop by Sacred Sound, silhouette painting and bracelet making. The weekend concluded with a boat cruise on Lake Windermere and a games night back at the centre.
