The London Marathon first took place in 1981 and has become one of the most popular marathons in the world. The route takes in many of London’s best landmarks including Buckingham Palace, The Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf.
The public ballot entry system for the 2027 TCS London Marathon opens at 09:00 BST, Friday 24 April 2026 and closes at 16:00 BST on Friday 1 May 2026.

If successful you’ll need to pay a £75 registration fee and pledge to raise a minimum of £2,750.
