Television presenter, writer, journalist, talk show host, columnist and Arsenal football fan Piers Morgan would certainly make an interesting and entertaining guest at any dinner party.
We are excited that, for one night only, he will be sharing anecdotes of his career and his love of Arsenal at an exclusive dinner in aid of Willow on Thursday 26 November.
We caught up with the man himself to get a little taste of what he has to say and to find out why he’s supporting Willow:
WILLOW: Who has been your most inspiring interviewee and why?
PIERS: I loved the Dalai Lama. He doesn’t drink, smoke, take drugs, have sex, watch TV, go to the movies, or even listen to music. Just reads and meditates. Never met a happier man!
WILLOW: Who has surprised you the most and why?
PIERS: John Lydon, who I interviewed for Life Stories recently, was far more intelligent, thoughtful and self-aware than I imagined a former Sex Pistol would be.
WILLOW: If you could choose anyone to interview (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
PIERS: Jack Nicholson hasn’t given any TV interview for over 40 years, which is probably why everyone still loves him. I’d do anything to persuade him. He’s what I call a proper star, huge talent and doesn’t give a damn about how he looks.
WILLOW: You took part in Celebrity Apprentice, would you ever consider taking part in another reality TV show (eg Strictly, I’m a Celeb, CBB, Bake off), which one and why?
PIERS: I get offered ever larger sums to go into the Jungle or strut my stuff on dance shows, but there is literally not enough money in Fort Knox to get me doing either of those things.
WILLOW: Your love of Arsenal is well recorded. What has been your greatest moment as a fan?
PIERS: When Arsenal won the League at Spurs in 2004, I ended up in the Spurs boardroom 90 minutes after the final whistle with just my Dad (a Tottenham diehard!), Arsene Wenger and Pat Rice. We all sat and drank a bottle of wine together and I couldn’t have been happier if someone had just told me I’d won the Lottery.
WILLOW: If you could interview any Arsenal player, past or present, who would it be, what would you ask them?
PIERS: Dennis Bergkamp. I wouldn’t ask him anything, I’d just say thank you.
WILLOW: Thank you for agreeing to be the interviewee for a change and for choosing to give your time to support Special Days.
PIERS: You’re very welcome. I have huge admiration for Bob and Megs (Willow Life-Presidents). They have been through unimaginable grief following the loss of their daughter Anna to cancer and they created a Charity to help others in similar positions. I am delighted to help them raise even more money on the night for such a terrific cause.
Interviewed by actor and presenter Tom Watt, Piers will be joined at Champneys in Tring by well known individuals from screen and sport, including our own Bob Wilson.
