Making Memories

December 9, 2015

Red Letter Days pioneered the concept of giving unforgettable memories as gifts but, since becoming Willow’s proud charity partner in 2010, the team has also been dedicated to helping Willow create unforgettable memories through Special Days.

Team RLD have also been making their own memories, by running, cycling, baking and crawling through mud to raise money for Willow.

We blogged earlier this year about Team RLD taking part in Hertfordshire 100, our 100 mile cycle challenge. Not to be outdone, the rest of the team also took on Willow Warrior, our muddy, fun-filled, obstacle course. Despite losing shoes along the way, the crazy bunch loved it so much they’re going to take part again next year too. We’d also like to give a special mention to our ultimate Willow Warrior, Gemma Crozier, as she took on a total of 10 gruelling challenges in 2015 to fundraise for Willow Special Days.

In April, Red Letter Days held Willow Week donating £1 from every red box experience sold. It even turned its website Willow purple to raise awareness so we can reach even more seriously ill young adults, like Amy.

Amy was born with Down’s syndrome and Eisenmenger’s, a congenital heart condition. Amy’s mum got in touch with Willow after receiving a Red Letter Day gift – which included a leaflet about Willow and realising we could help.

As Amy has always loved soaps, Willow organised for her to spend the day on the set of ITV soap, Emmerdale, including a visit to famous pub The Woolpack as well as meeting some of the stars of the show. Amy’s mum told us: “It was such a perfect day. It’s all about making memories and thanks to Willow; this is one we won’t forget.”

We can’t thank Gemma and everyone at Red Letter Days for helping make days like Amy’s possible.

To help us make more unforgettable memories together, Red Letter Days has generously given our supporters 15% off Red Letter Days experiences. Enter discount code WILLOW15 at the checkout from now until 31 December.
