Over the summer of 2025, six incredible supporters took to the skies over Old Sarum Airfield in Salisbury to complete Willow’s first ever Go Grab Life Skydive. Together, they raised over £5,000 to help create more special experiences for seriously ill young adults and their families.
The event was led by Willow ambassador Alex Newman, in honour of his late wife, Nicky Newman. Nicky was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer and became widely known for her honesty, energy and zest for life. Her powerful message, “Go Grab Life”, continues to motivate many to live in the moment and embrace every opportunity.
A huge thank you to skydivers Alex, Bob, Andy, James, Chris and Simon, who took part in Willow’s first skydiving challenge, marking a bold and exciting new addition to the charity’s fundraising calendar.
Alex said:
“I’ve been up to some very unexpected things over the last two years but jumping out of a plane in an effort to raise money for an incredible charity that has been incredibly special to Nicky and I has to be the most ‘Go Grab Life’ thing yet!
“Bob and I got into that plane, grabbed life with both hands and fell 15,000ft in honour of Nicky and Willow and everything they stand for.
“Willow gave Nicky and I a day of unforgettable memories and having the opportunity to raise funds to allow them to do the same for others is something that Nicky would be proud of.
“Life continues to present opportunities to continue her legacy in unexpected ways and I look forward to continuing this journey with you all with Nicky’s message at the heart of it.”
