Becky’s volunteering story

Becky volunteers at our shop in Hemel Hempstead. She has been a key member of the team for the last seven years, ever since seeing a poster in the window asking for in-store support.

“A big part of volunteering at Willow is having that support from everyone around you.”

“Volunteering at Willow is great. I’m here every day that we’re open and the atmosphere and people are all really nice. They’re a big part of what drew me in. It’s a lovely environment to be in.

My mum passed away six years ago and if it wasn’t for Willow, I don’t know how I would have coped. A big part of volunteering at Willow is having that support from everyone around you.

My volunteering journey started nearly seven years ago. I live locally to the shop in Hemel Hempstead and happened to be walking past one day. I saw a sign in the window that said they were looking for volunteers and decided to apply – I’ve been here ever since!

I would recommend volunteering for Willow to anyone. Everyone is friendly and you get to know all of the other volunteers, staff and customers well when you volunteer regularly in a shop in your local area.”
