Hayley’s Special Day story

Hayley and her partner have two children. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 27 and had to undergo chemotherapy and surgery in 2019.

We made memories as a family for the kids to look back on in years to come.

I wanted to feel normal again on my Special Day to Port Lympne Hotel and Wildlife Reserve and celebrate my 28th Birthday by having fun and creating memories with my family.

Before my diagnosis our life was full of laughter and adventures. Things have changed a lot for us now as a family, coping with a new baby and a cancer diagnosis all whilst my partner is trying to set up a new business and renovate a warehouse. My partner can’t work as much as he needs to and I am exhausted most of the time, so I can’t look after the kids as well as I should, and I am not as mobile as I was before. We have tried sticking together and getting through it all as a family.

We wanted to feel like a normal family again on our Special Day: no medicine, no hospital appointments, just having fun and laughs. We were so excited in the weeks leading up to it, although sad it is now over.

We made memories as a family for the kids to look back on in years to come and remember what we did to celebrate my 28th Birthday.
