Isabell’s day out in London

Twenty-six-year-old Isabell from Brighton was able to unwind and forget about her diagnosis of Ewing sarcoma on her Special Day in London. She went with her husband, William, and saw the Moulin Rouge show with dinner at Fallow.

It was truly special to be able to unwind and enjoy myself.

Isabell’s story

“I live with my husband; we have just recently celebrated our second anniversary. I am very into my arts and crafts and have recently taught myself how to crochet. Before my diagnosis, I was very into ballet classes and horse riding.

“Living with cancer has been extremely challenging, but now I am able to balance treatment and work. Some friendships have changed, some much stronger and some that have become slightly more distant.”

“We had a wonderful time, doing something just for me and my husband.”

“My Special Day made me feel so good, almost as though I was famous for the day. Everyone we interacted with made everything feel so natural and we felt so looked after.

“It allowed me to have some time where I did not think about my condition and I could enjoy this myself. There were so many highlights that it is hard to pick a favourite. Moulin Rouge was an incredible experience; the seat location was perfect and gave us the best view of all the action.

“Fallow was out of this world. We have always enjoyed trying restaurants with great food and dining experiences, and this was certainly that. The staff looked after us so well, and everything was delicious. We had a wonderful time, doing something just for me and my husband.

“Being able to achieve so many milestones as well, such as walking distances, considering last year I couldn’t walk. It was truly special to be able to unwind and enjoy myself.”

“My Special Day made me feel so good.”
