Nicola’s day at Legoland
36-year-old Nicola spent her Special Day at Legoland, with her husband, Gavin, and their two sons.

“It was nice to have two days feeling ‘normal’. Seeing the boys smile from start to finish was just the best feeling ever.”
Nicola’s story
“I am a primary school teacher of 13 years. I enjoy spending my free time outside with my family, walking, exploring, having adventures, baking and playing games.
“After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024, I was utterly heartbroken. I just didn’t know what the future would hold for me and my family.
“At the start of 2025 I started my chemotherapy, I then had my surgery and four weeks later, my results, which were all clear. Then I had 23 sessions of radiotherapy and after that, treatment was finally over.
“It was a rough year, where I felt extremely fatigued and feeling depleted, I couldn’t do all the family things I used to enjoy as I was just too tired, but we made the most of the days when I felt well.
“The boys looked after me very well. Even now, nearly a year on, I still get tired but we have learnt my limits and made adaptions to our family time.
“We made endless amounts of memories.”
“Our Special Day was absolutely fantastic. Doing what we like to do best as a family, being outside, making memories, having an adventure and being outdoors. Legoland did not disappoint.
“It was nice to have two days feeling ‘normal’. Seeing the boys smile from start to finish was just the best feeling ever and my personal highlight.
“We made endless amounts of memories, there was lots of laughter and enjoyment and thrill seeking throughout the Special Day. The boys had an absolute blast.”
