Talisa-Mae’s Special Day story
Talisa-Mae (18) lives with her parents and sister in Worthing, she spent six months in hospital being treated for acute myeloid leukaemia. She and her family shared her amazing Special Day in London with an afternoon tea. They all came away feeling so happy and closer as a family.

My Special Day gave me something to look forward to and focus on. It truly was a really special weekend and it was so nice to reconnect as a family after everything we’ve all been through.

When I was receiving treatment I was in hospital for six months and my mum stayed with me, which meant we spent a lot of time away from my sister and my dad. It was really nice to have a Special Day to look forward to and it was something positive to focus on during a difficult time.
Our Special Day was incredible, it could not have been any better. The hotel was perfectly located, we went to all the museums and took a trip to Harrods. We then went up the Shard where the view was absolutely incredible, it was such an amazing experience, it was crazy how much you could see from up there. We had the best afternoon tea in Marble Arch and saw Piccadilly Circus all lit up at night.
We saw so much in one weekend. It truly was a really special weekend and it was so nice to reconnect as a family after everything we’ve all been through, I am really grateful and I loved it so much.
