Yesterday, Sunday 26 April 2015, was the Virgin Money London Marathon where more than 37,500 finished the gruelling 26.2-mile journey from Blackheath to Westminster, making the 35th edition of the race the biggest in its history by almost 1000 runners.
We are so proud of the 32 participants who took part and have raised more than £50,000 to date for Willow. Every penny raised will help us to provide so many more Special Days for seriously ill young adults, creating special moments and memories that they and their loved ones will cherish.
We had an especially loud and enthusiastic bunch of cheerleaders this year, including some Special Day beneficiaries. Your homemade banners, purple pom-poms and motivational chants really helped spur on our runners. Thanks also to the physios who gave up their Sunday to give much deserved massages and treatments at the Willow recovery centre.
Carol Young, Willow Challenge Events Manager said “I’m bursting with pride! What a fantastic amount raised – it will go such a long way to helping us meet our target of offering a Special Day for every seriously ill young adult in the UK. Thank you so much to the amazing runners and all our supporters.”
We were excited to follow #TeamWillow’s story on Twitter, thanks to all our virtual cheerleaders for your support, see full story here.
