Gary Coombe, European President at Procter and Gamble, chose to celebrate his 50th birthday by raising £50,000 for Willow. ‘It became apparent that sponsored runs weren’t going to get us beyond a few pounds, so we decided to throw a party instead. The Great Big Swinging Ball was born!’ Nearly 300 of his friends filled the room at The Intercontinental, London on Saturday 31 January and all have raved about their fantastic evening.
His guests were treated to an exhilarating performance by Never the Bride, an act which raised the roof and had everybody up and on their feet rocking the night away. The auctioneer, Adger Brown, worked the room like a true professional, resulting in many generous people digging deep into their pockets for Willow. Some of the fantastic auction prizes up for grabs included golf with celebrities, luxury holidays and even the opportunity to dine with Richard Corrigan.
The result was incredible, with Gary and his team smashing their target of £50,000 to make a phenomenal total of nearly £75,000 for Special Days.
