Hundreds of supporters from across the UK and beyond laced up their walking shoes this June for the second Williamson’s Walk, inspired by Willow ambassador and England football star, Leah Williamson.
Williamson’s Walk challenged participants to walk 100km their way ahead of the Women’s European Championships in July. Passionate individuals and large groups of walkers took part this year, with members of the Arsenal Women Supporters Club tackling a 20km walk from Wembley to the Emirates Stadium in one day.
First held in 2024, Williamson’s Walk is already becoming a much-loved annual fixture for Willow fundraisers. To thank those who made a special contribution last year, the top fundraisers from 2024 were invited to an exclusive Q&A session with Leah, marking the start of this year’s fundraiser and offering the chance to show our appreciation for their incredible support.
More than 700 people signed up for Williamson’s Walk this year, walking more than 50,000km between them and raising over £20,000 to give seriously ill young adults and their loved ones the chance to create precious memories together.
Paul Nanson, Willow’s Deputy Director of Events, said: “We’re delighted to see Williamson’s Walk continue to grow, with fundraising up more than 20% on last year. The community we’ve built is so supportive of each other and it’s brilliant to see participants from across the UK (and further afield) coming together to support Willow. Thanks to everyone who has been walking throughout June, we really appreciate your support.”
