St Johns Lake at Linear Fisheries in Witney welcomed some of the biggest names in August 2025, as former England goalkeeper, David Seaman MBE, hosted our annual ‘Catch of the Day’ charity fishing competition.

Taking place over the weekend of Saturday 2 August to Sunday 3 August, the event attracted keen anglers from across the country as well as angling celebrities Tom Maker, Scott Lloyd, Damian Clarke and Carl Smith.
Over the 48-hour competition, attendees had the opportunity to gain exclusive insights, tips and tricks from the sport’s leading figures. After achieving a new personal best, participant Steve Leslie was awarded trophies for catching the largest carp and catfish across the weekend.
David Seaman MBE commented:
“It was a real joy to return to St Johns Lake for another weekend of fishing in aid of Willow. To see so many familiar faces returning after last year is testament to what a brilliant event this is!”

This year also saw the launch of a virtual Catch of the Day, allowing anglers to take part from their local waters over the same weekend. Open to participants nationwide, the virtual event saw 407 sign up to gain access to exclusive digital content from celebrity anglers and win prizes for the biggest catch across any species.
Catch of the Day 2025 was sponsored by Fishing Republic, Korda, Mainline Baits and Game Plan Solutions.
