Willow trekkers complete challenge to summit the highest peak in North Africa

This year, the Willow Trek took eight trekkers overseas to Morocco for an unforgettable challenge to the summit of Mt. Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak.

The group set out on Friday 12 September and completed a four-day climb in both rain and sunshine. Their determination and team spirit carried them 4,200 metres to the summit, making the challenge one to remember.

Together, the group raised over £15,000, helping Willow provide more special experiences for seriously ill young adults.

The team were joined by influencer Georgie Swallow, who uses her experience of stage 4 cancer to inspire others to say yes to life. Georgie said:

“This trek meant more to me than I can put into words. I’ve struggled trusting my body after having cancer twice and this challenge taught me that I am so much stronger than I thought and I am capable of doing hard things again.”

“Alongside this, there was one main reason, or one person, that inspired me to do this trek and that’s my gorgeous friend Nicky Newman. I saw how Willow brought her a glimmer of hope and fun on her special day, when she was going through the hardest of times. With it being the two-year anniversary since we lost her, it felt so right to take on this challenge and raise money for this amazing charity. I’ll never forget this.”

A huge thank you to Eleanor, Georgie, Janet, Kaylee, Lucia, Mark, Peter and Richard for taking on the challenge in support of Willow.
